About me
As a UK Chartered, HCPC Registered Educational Psychologist, I bring over four decades of experience to my online practice.
With a background in teaching and literacy development, I have supported children and young people with complex needs in both mainstream schools and specialist settings, focusing on neurodiversity and developmental trauma.
My international experience in Abu Dhabi and Saigon has broadened my work to include adults with complex trauma from natural disasters, war, and domestic abuse.
Now an independent online consultant, I focus on fostering trauma-sensitive communities, offering therapeutic psycho-education, and promoting holistic approaches to enhancing learning and well-being. My mission is to empower clients to flourish and thrive in a nurturing environment.

My Philosophy
My philosophy is based on an innate belief that all human beings have talents and gifts and that we all have something valuable to offer and contribute. Learning is about our teachers - be they elders or peers - recognising, acknowledging and celebrating our strengths; being aware of our challenges; and ensuring learning is focused upon, and builds upon, those strengths, whilst finding ways to mitigate or by-pass those areas of challenge that inhibit our learning. Assessment is a starting point, not an end in itself. It’s about finding out what we can do and discovering potential, with the aim of informing teaching and learning. Ensuring children and young people experience success and feel good about themselves is essential in motivating them to take risks, have a go, and learn. The quality of the learning experience is paramount. All behaviour is communication and symptomatic of underlying unmet needs. To understand, we need to ask what has happened to this child, young person or adult, not what is wrong. By asking what purpose a specific behaviour serves, we gain a better understanding of how we can help. In trauma, understanding the mind-body connection is crucial. In healing, mind, body, spirit and consciousness all have a vital part to play.

My Approach
My approach is about helping people shift their perspectives so they can feel better about themselves. Within the contexts of learning and social, emotional wellbeing, I focus on helping individuals discover their strengths and understand why they find certain things difficult. This process is empowering and can make a real difference in how they approach challenges.
A key aspect of my work is recognising the deep impact that trauma has on the body and mind. By providing strategies for self-healing, I aim to facilitate meaningful, positive change. My approach is grounded in professionalism and empathy, with every intervention carefully tailored to foster growth, build resilience, and enhance overall wellbeing.
